On the 17th of mars the San Antonio welcomes the Portland Trail Blazers over at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. The Spurs are currently second in the western conference trailing just a few points behind the Golden State Warriors whom they’ll face in their next game after Portland, both teams are play-off favourites with the Cavaliers this season aswell and “Pop” will probably be expecting more from the Spurs this year as their recent acquisition Marcus Aldridge is showing signs of promise, an acquisition that they ironically (coming into this game) got from the Trail Blazers. Portland is looking good to as they’re currently placed 6th in the western conference and second in the northwest division, however with many games yet still to go and play-off spots being the goal for every team (well obviously the Nets and 76ers are out) it means that every game counts.
The Spurs will be coming into this game with 4 victories and 1 defeat overall aswell as 5 straight victories at home in their latest 5 games. Actually the Spurs are on a 42-straight home victory streak (just 7 games from the NBA all-time record which is held by the Warriors), they seem to be an unstoppable force at home this year which is not a bad trait to have for the NBA play offs. If the players can just keep healthy then the Spurs will have a good chance to withstand the Cavaliers and Warriors in the Play offs, especially with Aldridge starting to get his shooting on track. The Spurs have no reported injuries heading into this game.
The Portland Trail Blazers will be coming into this game with 2 victories and 3 defeats overall aswell as 5 straight defeats on the road in their latest 5 games. Their latest game was a blow out defeat on the road versus Oklahoma trailing almost 40 points when the clock ran out, though when NBA stars such as Westbrook and Durant gets rolling there’s almost no defence that can stop them. Portland had a 34.1% shooting percentage which was a season low and they also broke their franchise record streak of scoring at least 10 3’s/game by only managing 7. However Damian Liliard managed to brighten things up a little bit being the only Portland player to score over 20 points (21) and being one of three to score in double digits. The Trail Blazers have had a very rough time on the road and facing the Warriors, Oklahoma and now Spurs in three consecutive games probably didn’t help the team morale. Portland have no reported injuries heading into this game.

The viking’s prediction for this game is that San Antonio Spurs wins and covers. The Spurs have won both fixtures with Portland this year and outscored them by at least 12 points and to add to that the last time the Trail Blazers won at the AT&T Center was way back in 2014.
This will of course be a loaded game for Marcus Aldridge facing his previous teammates, even though he’ve stated that it doesn’t feel weird to play Portland any more but most likely it does so if your bookmaker offers any line related to his performance pick the under points (if the line is around the 23-25 mark).
We should be seeing a Portland focusing heavily on offense in this game as they need to assess their shooting issues from last game (being able to perform offensively will be key if Portland is to have any chance in the play offs) and this should open up for a fast paced game which Kawhi Leonard should be able to use to his advantage and produce yet another 25+ points game.
San Antonio Spurs to win by at least 11.5
