On the 17th of february AS Roma welcomes Real Madrid over at Stadio Olimpico for one of the champions league 1/8 first legs with the most value to be had. Both AS Roma and Real Madrid have been recovering from some serious issues during this season and things are starting to clear up for both teams. AS Roma have found their success in Luciano Spalletti whom is famous for favouring the 4-2-3-1 system above anything, a classic italian style which focuses on defense and quick counter attacks. The Italian was tasked with creating a team identity for Roma and has been having success in doing just that, this fixture will serve as a preview if his style is up for the european scene.
Real Madrid on the other side had big issues with their own identity and the team play between Bale, Benezema and Ronaldo was suffering from it. The team looked like they had abandoned the midfield from time to time and things wasn’t getting better with both Balé and Benezema having rumors spread about them in the press. However Christiano Ronaldo has shown what arguably the worlds best player is able to do, reclaiming his pressure on the left wing. The management also played a big role in Real Madrid’s issues when they replaced Rafa Benítez with the legendary Zinedine Zidane, cementing the fact that the future of Real could very feature several Zidane’s led by Zinedine.
AS Roma will be coming into this fixture with 4 victories and 1 defeat overall aswell as 3 victories and 2 draws at home. Romas’s lone defeat was an 0-1 away game versus the serie A leaders Juventus who have been on an extraordinary hot streak as of late. The return of Spalletti has shown to be a great move for Roma and Mohamed Salah have been able to shine with their new formation, he is said to be ready to face Real even though the egyptian had a small muscular injury in the Carpi game. Edin Dzeko also looked promising scoring his first league goal since august against Carpi. AS Roma will probably be without Ashley Cole, Daniele De Rossi, Antonio Rüdiger, Ezequiel Ponce and Norbert Gyömber. Even though the Roma icon Francesco Totti got a small injury in his last game we might see Spalletti taking him out on the field in the second half if Roma need a cruical goal.
Real Madrid will be coming into this game with 4 victories and 1 draw overall aswell as 1 defeat, 2 victories and 2 draws on the road. Real Madrid is still adjusting to Zinedine as their head coach but it looks like he has been able to turn the team mentality around and get Ronaldo to reach his peak performance. However with a laughable El classico in mind there is still much to do with Los Blancos before they’re back at their old dominating level. Real Madrid will be without Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Pepe for this fixture.

Tip from the viking:
Have you tried betting at a sports betting exchange instead of at a bookmaker?
The viking recommends Matchbook if you want to try the betting exchange experience. Matchbook also offers many unique ways to bet aswell as their own casino games.
In their last meetings Roma have won 4 (including their most recent ones in 2015 and 2014) and lost 1. This includes 1 away victory over at Bernabeu. If anything these meetings should serve as a preview for this game, they show that Roma has been able to beat Real Madrid in the past regardless of the arena.
The viking’s prediction for this game is that the game will go under 2.5 goals and that Roma will win it or it will end in a 0-0 game. This however all depends on Roma’s ability to shut down a Christiano Ronaldo who is hitting his peak. The smart bettor will be looking at this game live and watch the first 20 minutes to see how Roma is able to handle Real Madrid’s attacks. Another interesting pick for this game is the over x corners live play.
