The first round of the much-anticipated WTA Finals in Singapore is about to commence with Garbine Muguruza Blanco facing off versus Lucie Safarova. They have faced each other one time before in the French Open quarter finals ending in a 7-6(3) 6-3 victory for Safarova. However Muguruza has since then been taking great leaps in her tennis career, reaching the finals in this years Wimbledon aswell as the finals in the WTA Wuhan. Garbine Muguruza fell to the Williams sisters in both of those finals and will be coming into the WTA Finals Singapore with her mind-set towards victory. Lucie Safarova on the other hand has seemingly been on the decline since her WTA Doha win over Victoria Azarenka this february, she were showing signs of greatness in WTA New Haven were she reached the finals and beat Petra Kvitova in a nervous first set but eventually lost with 6-7(6) 6-2 6-2.

Lucie Safarova will be coming into this game with 1 victory and 4 defeats in her latest 5 games. Safarovas performance has to say the least been looking very shaky coming into the WTA Finals, she has been loosing to players ranked way below her in a very alarming manner since her 6-7(6) 6-2 6-2 finals loss at WTA New Haven versus Petra Kvitova . The only game that she has come close to winning was versus Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with 6-1 6-7(2) 6-3.
Garbine Muguruza will be coming into this game with 5 victories in her latest 5 games. Muguruzas shape has been looking better and better and she has advanced in the rankings tremendously this year. Her most notable victory was her victory in the WTA Beijing China Open versus Timea Bacsinszky with 7-5, 6-4. She has reached two other finals; The Wimbledon final which she lost versus the american powerhouse Serena Williams with an impressive 6-4 6-4 and the WTA Wuhan final were she had to retire at 6-3 3-0 due to a minor injury versus Venus Williams .

The vikings prediction for this game is that Garbine Muguruza Blanco will win this fixture quite easy. Lucie Safarova has been showing a great decline in her performance showing big signs of being on tilt. However this is the finals and you can never rule something out but in this case the statistics combined with Muguruzas determination and focus says it all. However the viking feels that the over picks in this fixture holds great value due to the bookmakers basing their odds on Muguruzas great shape and Safarovas terrible shape. Lucie Safarova will be coming into this game with the mindset that this is quite likely her last tennis match in the WTA for the season and as such the viking believes that she could very well pull of a tiebreak win in the first or second set.
But the viking believes that Safarova doesn’t have what it takes to proceed beyond that and as we all know in tennis every game and set matters and as such this weeks banker of the week will be Garbine Muguruza to straight up win, she might do it in 2 sets or she might do in 3 sets but she will win this fixture.
